How to Successfully Request Event Sponsorships for your Nonprofit

Your favorite charity has a dinner every year to raise money, to help your community.  Although there was a lot of money raised from the event, you think you could do a lot more.  You decide to put on your own fundraiser.  Is it easy to put together a fundraiser for a nonprofit?

  • Make a plan

Make out a plan of how you are going to make your event work.Plan the expenses of your event and know how much money and how many sponsors you are going to need to make your charity event a success.

  • When should you reach out?

You should want to reach out to your sponsors as far in advance as you can.Reaching out to a sponsor with less than four months, from the time of your event will result in a probable no.Most companies have fixed budgets for charity work, and they usually plan where their money is going at the beginning of their fiscal year.The more advanced notice they have, the more likely they are to be a contributor towards your charity.

  • Develop your sponsorship

Pick out places you are personally involved with and you would be proud to be in business with

  • Write a letter

Include in your letter your mission of your nonprofit.Let prospective sponsors know what you are aiming to gain from this event.Lastly let sponsor know the objectives of your organization.

  • Follow up

A week after you have sent out your letters to the prospective sponsors, you should follow up with them to find out how they feel about sponsoring your event.Do not wait for the prospective sponsors to call you back, because more than likely they will not.

  • Recognize  your sponsors

Remember to give the sponsors credit for sponsoring your event.Let everyone know how he or she helped out with your event.

  • Patients

The toughest part of anything is letting our plan unfold.  Sometimes you will achieve your goals right away.  Then other time your goals will take longer than you had wanted.

Organizing a fundraiser for your nonprofit can be an over whelming venture, but with a little bit of creativity, and whole lot of planning, can make your can help to make your event a huge success.
