When severe weather strikes, it may be hard to think on your feet regarding what is the best action to take for safety. Mother nature brings different gifts to all areas of the country, but if you are at risk for tornadoes, hurricanes, high winds, and earthquakes I have some safety tips. If you are indoors during one of these events, get under a desk or table immediately, but if there is no desk go to a door frame. Next, stay away from all windows and glass. Finally, try to remain calm in a protected area until danger has passed. If you are outdoors, get away from buildings, windows, glass, telephone poles, or any debris that could fall. The majority of injuries from natural disasters result from falling debris, trees, and broken glass.
