Accident Investigation Plans in Non-profit Organizations

By Alexa Connelly
March 27, 2012

Once an accident occurs in our Non-profit Organization, we must figure out what caused it (No, not to blame somebody) to prevent it from occurring again. The Sherlock Holmes in us comes out to investigate the situation. The goal is to answer who, what, when, where, why, and how? It is important to start the investigation as soon as possible after the accident to collect all the information. Make sure the accident area is safe and the injured person is receiving help. Tools that can help you document the incident include a camera, notepad, tape recorder, and a tape measure.

A Sample Accident Investigation Plan can be found in the Nonprofit Research Center of our website.
