Employment Practices Liability Insurance: Is it Necessary?

By Alexa Connelly

Almost 75% of lawsuits brought against companies or organizations are related to employment practices. Luckily there is insurance just for this type of lawsuit: Employment Practices Liability Insurance (EPLI). EPLI covers lawsuits brought against a Non-profit Organization for discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, and failure to enforce adequate workplace policies and procedures.

Employment Practices lawsuits are extremely expensive because they are time consuming due to lack of physical evidence to prove that an employment practice is not in violation of the employee’s right(s). Coverage is not limited to paid employees, coverage extends to volunteers in your Non-profit Organization as well.  This is why it’s important to obtain Employment Practices Liability Insurance for your company or organization.
