Nonprofit Abuse Policy

By Alexa Connelly
March 13, 2012

A sexual abuse policy should be put into action at your Non-profit organization,  Make sure guidelines are posted, reinforced, and have consequences if someone suffers from the abuse.  A few guidelines that should be followed are: do not refer to the client as “Baby” or “Honey,” do not tell sexual jokes, do not wear provocative clothing, and do not touch a client inappropriately. It is best to do group activities, so be cautious in one-on-one situations. If you are unsure if a behavior is inappropriate, consult with your supervisor for clarity.
