The last thing most of us want to think about before traveling or even relaxing on a couch at home is what kind of hazards (natural and not) are occuring or could occur. It is important to know this information so you are prepared during and after an emergency occurs. Here are a few ways to be prepared:

  • Develop a family communications plan
  • Make an emergency supply kit
  • Watch the news and weather channel for updates
  • Familiarize yourself with the signs of events that come without warning
  • Know and understand the local advance alerts and warnings

Accidents, natural disasters, and even terrorism happens sometimes without much warning, that is why you need to act as fast as possible and know all of the information.
