Planning ahead of time is essential for every nonprofit. Along with planning for your nonprofit comes budgeting for your nonprofit. To make it a bit easier on you, since we are going into the year 2013, there are many different ways of budget planning that you and your nonprofit can decide on. You need to pay particular attention on what is not generating return and replace it with other options. Consider using these strategies to better you nonprofit:

  • Plan on refreshing your existing website or creating a new one if yours is more than two years old.
  • If not already, create a mobile app or a mobile friendly website
  • Consider adding blogs, videos, and virtual tours to your website
  • Get coached on social media
  • E-mailing
  • Direct Mail
  • Newspaper advertising with an intentional plan
  • Radio ads
  • TV and cable ads
  • Get quality designed collateral because that is the first impression
  • Host an event or be part of an event
  • Give aways – free always sells
  • Create donor and supporter relationships
  • Continuously educate your volunteers and yourself
  • Know what your supporters are thinking and feeling with surveys

Planning early will help you prepare more for your 2013 nonprofit budget plan and it will make you more aware of the items that are currently not working and may need to be replaced with new and innovative ideas.
