Choosing insurance for your church is never an easy task. There are many non profit insurance agencies to consider, and each one is out to make a new customer. For those who are new to this and need church insurance, there are a few things you should consider when looking for church insurance. This article will aim to help you on your journey of insuring your establishment and making the process of becoming insured easy and stress free.

Your first task should be to make what is called a cheat sheet. On this so-called cheat sheet, you need to write down information you need when calling or emailing insurance companies. Some of the information would be your nonprofit contact information, a list of all your nonprofit services, your latest nonprofit financial statements, etc.

Next; you should contact an insurance company that specializes in non profit insurance. There are many companies out there to choose from. Going with a general insurance company who doesn’t really understand the nonprofit establishment or business will not be in your favor, and generally cause more trouble than anything else.

In addition, you need to understand all coverage that you will be offered. When going in to something that you may not understand, you need to ask the coverage supplier questions and get detailed answers so you know what you are getting and dealing with. You will get a number of coverage, such as General Liability Insurance, Professional Liability Insurance, Directors and Officers Insurance, Commercial Property Insurance, and Special Event/Fundraiser Insurance, to name a few.

Also, you should never decide on what insurance company to go with alone. You should schedule a board meeting to go over the details of the insurance company you are thinking of going with, to get the input of your team and to see what they think.

Lastly, once you have found your insurance company, keep your insurance agent up to date. With any little change that is made or anything that happens in general to your establishment, always call your agent and let him know what is going on.

Owning a church or any non profit establishment is difficult, but being without insurance can cause chaos. Choose the best insurance company for your nonprofit and don’t sweat the small stuff. Find a nonprofit insurance company today and start focusing more on your lovely establishment.

  1. The article makes a very good point about being sure that you understand all of the coverage that you are offered. After all, there may be some things in the basic insurance package that you don’t need covered. If this is the case, then it pays to know about it and work with your insurance company to change it over to something else that you do need coverage for.

  2. You make a great point about choosing a non-profit insurance company if you can find one. After all, just like any insurance company they care about your safety and well-being as the top priority. However, the come with the added benefit of not having to worry about a bottom-line.
